The old seen through the new!

Fakenham has a rather splendid 12th century church, the Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, which plays an active part in the town and the tower of which can be seen from quite some distance. We also have a much more recently erected modern sculpture of an oak tree by Norfolk sculptor Colin Miller. This was placed in 2009 and it’s fair to say divided opinion when it was unveiled. I actually rather like it and noticed the other day that it provided a great frame for a view of the Church and of Oak Street itself, probably one of the oldest streets in the town:
